Rhea Derkach

With broken hearts, the family of the late Rhea Derkach announce her passing on October 26, 2024, at the age of 35 years.Rhea Renia Derkach was born on February 12, 1989, to Timothy and Renia (nee Wasylyniuk) Derkach at Yorkton, SK. She attended and received her education from Norquay Schools.She was a mother to Theo and thoroughly enjoyed laughing with him. In her spare time, she loved to garden and order the weirdest, but coolest, things off Amazon. Rhea recently learned how much she loved the occupation of helping children and accepted a position with the Good Spirit School Division as a new educational assistant.  She appreciated working with the students and staff at Norquay school, as she felt worthy, appreciated, and needed there. She was proud that her energy thrived while working with youth with special needs and this experience enhanced her ability to learn more about her son at home. Rhea was an incredible and talented artist who loved to draw and paint.  Her artwork was something so beautiful and fascinating, and most definitely deserves recognition for bringing beauty and wonder to this world. With her radiant, contagious laughter, she had the incredible ability to share the wildest stories and jokes.  She loved to create video skits with her sisters when they were growing up and to also build teepees outside where they could sleep, have fires, and make pretend soup. These are now wonderful memories to treasure. Rhea was a kind soul who would hold space for anyone who needed to be heard or held, as she was mindful and never judged others.  A loving, kind, and funny soul, Rhea left Earth too soon. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Rhea was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Mervin and Phyllis Derkach; maternal grandfather, Mike Waslylniuk; and her great-grandmother, Sophia Naclia.She is survived by her son, Theo; boyfriend, Blake Bolger; parents, Timothy and Renia Derkach; brother, Tyson (Ashley) Derkach; sisters, Richele Mydonick, Terri Derkach (Brayden Fogg), and Trudy Derkach (Chris Sunderland); nieces and nephews: Carmen, Carly, Maddie, Kyron, and Bryson; grandmother, Olga Wasylyniuk; and her aunt, Tammy Derkach; as well as many more aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.  A Celebration of Rhea’s life was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2024, from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK, with Shawna Leson, certified celebrant, officiating. A Private Committal followed in the Canora Cemetery, Canora, SK.
