Ric Alan Grant passed away August 11, 2025 at home in Bay Point, California, at the age of 69. Born on August 8, 1956, in Castro Valley, California. Ric lived a life marked by service, creativity, and unwavering devotion to his family and community. Ric proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army in 1973. Stationed at Fort Ord in California, he earned a National Defense Medal and qualified as a Sharpshooter. His military career was cut short due to a back injury that led to an honorable discharge, but his commitment to duty and country remained a defining part of his character. Following his military service, Ric pursued professional certifications that reflected his dedication to personal growth and responsibility. He obtained a State of California Insurance License as well as State Securities Licenses through FINRA and NASAA. These accomplishments underscored his diligence and integrity in all aspects of life.
Ric was deeply devoted to his family. He shared 28 loving years of marriage with his wife Marie Ann, with whom he built a life filled with joy and mutual support. Together they nurtured a blended family that brought him immense pride: son Kevin Grant; stepdaughters Tammie Gumataotao and Tina Strickland; daughter-in-law Lisa Simmonds; and son-in-law Trent Strickland. Ric also cherished his grandchildren—Tyler Strickland, Marina Chism, Makaela Chism, and Travis Strickland—and such happiness in spending time with his great-grandchildren Kaiden Strickland and Kehlani Strickland. He is also survived by his mother Darlene Cronin and brothers Robert Grant and Randy Grant. Ric held close the memory of those who preceded him in death: his beloved grandmother Dorothy Knobbs (“Gram”), who was one of the most important figures in his life; his father Robert Grant; and brother Danny Grant.
Ric’s passions were as vibrant as the life he led. A talented artist, he expressed himself through creative pursuits that brought beauty into the world around him.Creating detailed sculptures built with snow for the grandchildren. He loved motorcycles and often found peace riding along open roads.Ric treasured spending time flying kites at the park with his great- grandchildren. He looked forward to music in the park and preparing for the holidays with his wife.
Those who knew Ric remember him as an incredibly selfless man who never hesitated to help others. Whether offering a hand to someone in need or simply being present for those around him, Ric gave generously of himself without expectation or hesitation. His legacy is one of kindness, strength, humility, and enduring love.
Ric went home with the Lord after suffering from cardiopulmonary arrest. He provided comfort throughout his life’s journey and now offers solace to those mourning his passing. May the memory of Ric Alan Grant bring comfort to all who knew him and serve as a lasting reminder of a life well-lived in service to others.
