Richard's Obituary

WORCESTER-Richard A. Alfego, 84, of Worcester, died Monday, May 12, 2014. He leaves his wife of 28 years, Claudette Y. (Dupre) Alfego, a daughter Jolie and a grandson in California, and several cousins. He was predeceased by two stepsons, Peter and Paul Lovely. He was born in Worcester, son of Dominic and Frances (DelNegro) Alfego, and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and Worcester Junior College. Mr. Alfego moved to Hollywood, CA in 1955 to pursue a career in music as a jazz drummer. During his 19 years in Hollywood he played with Jerry Gray. He was a former member of the Hollywood Musicians Local 47 and a current member of the Musicians Local 143. The funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, May 20 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blessed Sacrament Church, 551 Pleasant Street, Worcester, MA 01602. Arrangements are under the care of CALLAHAN FAY & CASWELL FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
