Richard's Obituary

Surrounded by loved ones, Richard Sinclair Allen, fondly known as “Papa Rick,” passed away on October 9, 2025, at the age of 76, after a well-lived and well-loved life marked by kindness, humor, and boundless devotion to his family and friends.

Born on April 9, 1949, in Biloxi, Mississippi, Rick was the beloved child of the late Colonel Donald Wellington Allen and the late Yvonne Marie Allen. Rick grew up in a military family, moving often and adapting to new cultures and communities, which taught him flexibility and cultural appreciation. He had a love for music and his band, Daybreak, touched all who heard them play. Rick later pursued a career as a Quality Control Engineer in the semiconductor industry.

Throughout his years, Rick was a steady source of wisdom and support for those fortunate enough to know him. He was a loving husband to Tess Allen, with whom he shared thirty treasured years and countless memories. Together, they created a home of joy, kindness, and love.

His sister, Linda Zazzara, also survives Rick. He was a proud father to his daughter, Amy Thomas, from a previous marriage, and a caring stepfather to his stepchildren: Antonio & Bessie Martinez Jr., Christian & Cristina Martinez, Stephanie & Paul Calinawan, and Catherine Martinez. His legacy of love and generosity extended to his twelve grandchildren, his four great-grandchildren, his nieces, and his nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Colonel Donald Wellington Allen and Yvonne Marie Allen, his sister Gail Ohyama, and by one beloved grandchild.

Beyond his commitment to family, Rick was enthusiastic about exploring the world. He and Tess cherished cruising to European and South American countries, embarking on road trips across the United States, and adventuring by land and boat through the islands of the Philippines. He loved island hopping, snorkeling, karaoke, and enjoying Filipino food with loved ones.

During his last moments, he said, “Let me go, I had a good life.” These words reflected the peace and gratitude that defined his approach to life and the comfort he brought to those around him.

He will be deeply missed and always remembered by all who were touched by his kindness, humor, and generous spirit.

The family will honor Rick’s memory in a private gathering.

Rest in peace, Papa Rick. You will live forever in our hearts.
