I was saddened to hear of Dick’s passing from this world. Dick reminded me of my own Father, he was a great example to learn from, such a good man. I remember him talking about his golf game and his family. May God’s grace be abundant to the family at this difficult time.

One year old at Christmas 1983

My Grandfather taught me some of the most early examples of the important, foundational lessons in my life. When I was maybe eight or nine, my family was visiting from Washington for Christmas. My parents were out shopping and I was wanting to see inside the attic. I was specifically told not to go into it but being the mischievous and adventurous young boy I was, I managed to go up there. Long story short, I fell through the ceiling and put a big hole in it in the middle of a particularly blustery winter. Needless to say, I was terrified of having to to tell Grandpa when he got home from work. When he finally came home, I bust into tears and told him what happened. His first question to me was whether I was hurt. But next, he scooped me up and and looked at the hole and burst into laughter and said that I'd have a heck of a story to tell for my kids and that they'd have that fixed up in no time. The lesson to me was not to sweat the little things that could be fixed.
Thirty years later, his words became prophetic as I sat with my eight year old son and told him about the time I fell through my grandpa's attic at Christmas time, much to my son's delight.
While I was unable to arrange travel and rearrange business travel that I was currently on, my thoughts and prayers were with Grandma and the rest of my family.
My grandpa was a giant for me. He will always live in my memory as the big cuddly bear that would snuggle me up as a small child and sit in the chair to watch TV and eat golden raisins. I'm supremely confident that he is resting in a far, far better place in a sweet reunion with his Savior, anxiously awaiting the reunion with all of us.
I love you grandpa. I always will. God be with you till we meet again.

Janet and family, I just saw this obituary online and am so sorry to hear of Richard's death. Seems that so many have passed lately. So thankful that he knew the Lord and is in Heaven with family and friends. Stay close to the Lord in the days to come.
