Dick was a good friend that started back when our boys where in sports together and we where on the sidelines watching them grow up so fast. Dick was so proud of Jeremy and loved those grandchildren which he talked about all the time when we ran into each other over the years at activities or at lunch.
I am so glad I stopped in to see Dick at the hospital the other day
He is In a better place now and pain free

Dick was a kind and loving man. Always had good things say about Jerremy and Courtny's family. I have known Dick 34 years. Stated out with coaching, Jeremey and my son in little league at Millersburg. Then

Richard "Dick"'s Obituary

Richard “Dick” Sponseller, age 78 of Goshen, IN, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 4, 2026 at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Elkhart, IN. Richard was born on June 26, 1947 in LaPorte, IN to Wilford Thurman and Laura Belle (Adams) Sponseller.  Dick lived his entire life in the Elkhart County area and was a 1966 Nappanee High School Graduate.  He served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran.  Dick had been active in the Goshen DAV. Earlier in his life, Dick was active in the Nappanee Bowling League and enjoyed playing golf. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.  Dick was a loving brother, father and grandfather.  He especially loved his grandchildren and cherished the time he was able to spend with them. He is survived by a son, Jeremy (Courtney) Sponseller of New Paris, IN; 4 grandchildren: Natalie (Chandler) Pittman, Parker, Logan, and Karlee Sponseller; 2 half children: Brian Kilmer of Elkhart, IN and Patty (Josh) Dunn of Wakarusa, IN; 2 sisters: Penny Grimm of Nappanee and Shirley (Irv) Yoder of Nappanee; and a brother, Roger (Jean) Sponseller of Union, MI.  Dick was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry Sponseller, and brother-in-law Kenny Grimm.  Visitation will be held from 11 am – 1 pm, with a funeral service starting at 1 pm, on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Pastor Kyle Weigold of Life Center Church will officiate and burial will follow in Union Center Cemetery, Nappanee.
