Richard “Dick” E. Lange, 81, passed away December 10, 2023. Dick was born in Indianapolis on November 23, 1942, to Richard and Viola Lange. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters Karon Thompson and Sharon Cooper.
Dick served in the United States Air Force after high school. He was a proud corn and soybean farmer and spent many days planting and harvesting his crops. Dick worked a satisfying career as a Field Engineer for Automated Business Machines and Unisys. He was blessed to enjoy a lengthy retirement in Indiana and Florida.
Dick was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish and would gladly rise before dawn to get to the lake. During his younger years, Dick traveled to Iowa and hunted with his beloved bird dogs for quail and pheasant.
Dick was blessed with good health until recently. He was a survivor of prostate cancer and battled lymphoma these last five years. Ever the warrior, he met every health challenge with a positive, I will beat this attitude. This past year brought multiple health challenges and hospital stays. He never complained and never suffered with pain.
Dick was very proud of his family. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nilah; daughters, Christy (Randy) Russell and Margaret (Stacey) Lawyer; grandson, Dean Russell.
Dick’s family will be hosting a Celebration of Life Sunday May 5, 2024 1pm-5pm at NSSB Old Farm, Danville IN. His final resting place will be Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Lizton, Indiana.

Dick was my first cousin, our Mom's were twins. We did so many wonderful things together as kids growing up, spending two weeks of vacation together almost every year in Monticello, IN at the Grandparents cottage. We even worked together as teens for Grandpa Rusty doing brick and block work on new houses, mixing mortar and carrying all the supplies and equipment! I loved Dick as my brother, he was and always will be a wonderful companion! My Love to all the Groff and Lange families, Bud
