Obituary

Richard's Obituary

Richard Ferrin returned to God's Country early morning on Tuesday February 24, 2026. He passed peacefully in his sleep with his wife Wendy by his side, where she has been for 36 years.

Richard went through life on his own terms. He was as stubborn as they came and fought hard until the very end, defying medical odds for the last 14 years.

He was born on June 12, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ronald and Lois Ferrin and was part of a very large mixed family with 17 additional siblings who he loved dearly.

Richard's greatest love was his family. He cherished his wife Wendy and always wanted to spoil her with the best. He had a unique relationship with each of his children and their spouses, who he also considered his kids. His grandchildren also held a very special place in his heart, everything stopped and nobody else mattered when they came in the room. Additionally, Richard had a very large extended family and many friends who he loved and cherished as well.

Richard worked in the construction trade for most of his life, mainly as an equipment operator. He loved playing in the dirt and was a true expert in his field. Even after he had been retired for almost 2 decades and was ailing, he was able to get in a mini excavator and show his skills with a giant smile on his face.

He lived life to the fullest, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping, and anything else outdoors. He enjoyed making things with his hands including painting and leather tooling but most of all, he loved woodworking and could make anything. His family is honored to have so many cherished creations to pass down and remember him by.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday March 13, 2026, from 5-8 pm at the South Jordan Community Center - 10778 South Redwood Road in South Jordan.
