Richard's Obituary

Richard R. McCormick, 70 of Vernon Hills, IL passed away peacefully on 9-2-25

A devoted family man, Rick lived for his family and thrived on traditions. His kindness, generosity, and caring nature he was known for showed in everything that he did - right down to bringing his entire family along to his life-dream whale watching trip to Alaska.

In his younger years, Rick was a talented basketball player at Palatine High School and Carthage College. After college Rick met and married the love of his life on September 29, 1979. Together they raised their family and enjoyed many happy memories together; whether sitting around a campfire, making holiday meals, taking a cruise on his Harley, or just a walk with his Labrador, Kizmit. When not spending time with family, Rick could be caught enjoying his favorites: a Stephen King book or some Billy Joel music. Known for his sharp humor and quick wit, Rick’s loved ones will miss the smiles and laughter he always brought.

Rick was very successful in business and played a major role in starting and growing Ensar and Handi-Foil Corporation then moving on to executive leadership at Reynold’s/Hefty. His talent and creativity earned him six patents in the industry.

Rick is survived by his wife, Marilyn, daughter, Tina (Scott) Hansen, sons, Dustin (Ryan) McCormick, Chad (Kelly) McCormick, daughter, Deanna (Cory) Snyder, 10 grandchildren: Samantha Hansen, Logan Hansen, Gavin McCormick, Mason McCormick and Archer McCormick, Marissa Case, Madison McMahon, Jemma Snyder, Kaylee Snyder, Austin (Ivan) Sanchez, his brother-in-law, Jack Kruse, Sr., sister-in-law, Linae Jackson and brother, Jerry (Diane) McCormick, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by hisparents, Wetzel and Iona McCormick, father-in-law, Richard Skilling, and mother-in-law, Caroline Skilling.

There will be a memorial service at Kristan Funeral Home in Mundelein, IL on September 13, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Internment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Multiple Myeloma Research or the Alzheimers Association.
