Richard's Obituary

  Richard E. Michael, Sr., 91, of Easton, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011, in Easton Hospital. Born: Richard was born July 5, 1919 in Easton, a son of the late Henry and Catherine (Bishop) Michael. Personal: Richard worked in the maintenance department for Easton Area School District, retiring after 25 years of service; prior to that, he worked as a die sinker at Ingersoll Rand for 21 years. He honorably served his country in the Army Air Corp. during WWII.  Richard and his wife, the former Josephine M. Giordano, celebrated 68 years of marriage on November 2, 2010. Memberships: Richard was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Farmersville, Dallas Lafayette Lodge F & AM, Northampton County Chapter of the PA Association of School Retires, The American Legion post 9 of Palmer Twp., St. Pauls III Lutheran Church Ambassador Club. Survivors: In addition to his wife Josephine, Richard is survived by his son Richard E. Michael, Jr. and his wife Rebecca of Bangor; grandson Seth Michael and his wife Rebecca of Bethlehem Twp.; great-grandchildren Anthony Michael, Patrick Michael and Anna Michael; sister-in-law Jane Werkheiser, brother-in-law Joseph Giordano; niece Karen Werkheiser; great-nephew Andrew Hand, and many nieces and nephews.  Richard is preceded in death by his sister Catherine Worman and brothers John Michael, Les Michael, and William Michael. Services: Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 1st from 6:00pm to 8:00pm with a Masonic services at 7:00pm. Additional visitation will be held Wednesday from 8:30am to 9:30am in Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Twp.). Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30am in St. John's United Church of Christ, Farmersville, 8065 William Penn Hwy., Easton, PA. Interment to follow at Northampton Memorial Shrine. A sympathy luncheon will be held at St. Johns UCC immediately following the interment. Memorial Contributions: Contributions in Richard's name may be made to St. John's UCC, 8065 William Penn Hwy., Easton, PA 18045. Online condolences may be offered at www.morellofuneralhome.com
