Richard Samuel Minnick Jr, age 75, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020. Born to Richard Minnick Sr. and Sylvia Cox in Radford, VA, he was a Hampton resident for 65 years. Richard proudly served his country in the US Air Force for 23 years before retiring. Upon retiring he continued to serve his community in the auto parts industry for the next 40 years. He will be remembered by many for his friendly nature and ability to make anyone laugh who met him. He had a love of airplanes, classic cars and Virginia Tech football. He was devoted to his family and friends. He was revered as a hero by most that knew him for his determination and strength after becoming a double amputee in recent years. He persevered and maintained an active lifestyle doing what he enjoyed by working and supporting his family. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Lynda Faye Minnick; children, Richard S. Minnick III (Laura), Cynthia R. McCoy (Michael), Christopher D. Minnick, Jennifer L. Ball (Harry), and Kathrine E. M. Littles; brothers, John Arthur Minnick and Bruce Edward Minnick; grandchildren, Amanda, Jessica, Andrew, Marissa, Sean, Eric, Rebecca, Noah, Jacob, Griffin, Sophia, and Kyli; great-grandchildren, Aspen and Claire. The family will receive friends between 10-11:00 AM on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions, 2609 Cunningham Drive, Hampton, VA 23666 (757)-825-8070. Inurnment will be at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 7 at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA.
