Richard N. Rein, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at home with his family by his side. Born and raised in Trenton, he was a graduate of Trenton High School and eventually moved to Florence, NJ. Richard was a Navy Veteran and retired as a supervisor for New Jersey Bell. He later owned and operated Wood 'n' Kites for many years. He was a member of the American Kite Association, the Rollin' Oldies Car Club and the Bordentown Elks Lodge #2085 of Bordentown. He will be deeply missed by all. A once avid skier, motorcyclist, woodworker, master of curiosities, and truly one of a kind, he breathed color and life into every space he entered.
Predeceased by his parents George and Catherine (Blechl) Rein, his brothers George and John Rein, and his first wife Helen Vartas Rein, he is survived by his wife of 34 years, Grace L. Rein; his sons Michael Rein and his wife Lisa of Columbus, Robert Rein of Burlington Township, Benjamin Carey and his wife Jillian of NC, his daughter Maura Carey and her husband Antoine Rouhana of Somerset, NJ. He had nine grandchildren: Craig (Sarah), Eric (Laura), Kelly (Sean), Heather (Jared), Aimee (Ron), Mary, Donovan, Killian, and Ireland, and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 am Thursday, July 31 at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ. Friends may call on the family on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 pm and again on Thursday morning from 9 till time of service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Florence, NJ.
