Richard Lee Slabaugh, age 85 of Nappanee, IN died at 9:30 am on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at his residence. Richard was born on March 26, 1940 to Elmer and Alda (Farmwald) Slabaugh. On May 10, 1962, Richard married Ada Raber in Millersburg, OH. Richard was a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Richard is survived by his wife of over 63 years Ada Slabaugh of Nappanee; 3 children: Judy (Dewayne) Yoder of New Paris, IN, Cindy (Joseph) Troyer of Nappanee, and Doris (Marlin) Eash of Shipshewana, IN; 18 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Allen (Ellen) Slabaugh and Lyle (Barb) Slabaugh, both of Milford, IN and a brother-in-law, Leroy Hochstetler of Milford. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons, Daniel Slabaugh, who was stillborn, and Gary Slabaugh, who died at age 17; a sister, Betty Hochstetler; and a nephew, Matthew Slabaugh. Visitation will be after 3pm on Monday, August 25, 2025; all day Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at the Joseph Troyer residence (70886 CR 100, Nappanee, IN). A funeral service will begin at 9:30 am on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, also at the Joseph Troyer residence. Bishop Myron Yoder will officiate along with home ministers of the Old Order Amish Church. Burial will follow in Weldy Cemetery, Nappanee, IN. Arrangements are with Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.
