Dick was born May 7, 1943, in Lincoln, NE to Harry P. Webster and Ann E. Webster. Dick was raised inArcadia, CA where he graduated from Arcadia High School. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout and in histeenage years started a lifelong love of boating and water sports. Dick began building boats as a youngman using his talent as a woodworker. He carried on his passion for building most anything, the biggerthe better, throughout his life. His workshop was his friend, and he loved every tool, nut, bolt and nailinside! He also developed a “need for speed” that went along with his love of boats but sometimesoverflowed to cars as well. He participated in the world renown Catalina Ski Race (CSR), which is a62-mile round trip open-ocean high speed water ski race from Long Beach, CA to Avalon, CA. This racestarted in 1949 and is the only open-ocean ski race regularly scheduled anywhere in the world. He alsoraced boats for a short time in his young adulthood.

Dick started working in the grocery business at the young age of 13 where he eventually met his wife,Doreen. Further opportunities in the grocery business lead he and his wife to Gilroy, CA where theyraised their family. In Gilroy they enjoyed living on a small ranch where Dick had plenty of room topursue his love of building things.

Growing up with a midwestern mother who took pride in caring for her family with hearty meals, Dickwould always rise to the challenge and provide his own family and friends with lots of great food! Thislove of food led him to be the restaurant owner of Pizza Cove in Gilroy, CA from 1983-2001. A BBQ menuwas added to Pizza Cove when Dick decided to fabricate a showcase BBQ/Smoker on wheels withdiamond plate chrome, fancy paint and chrome tandem wheels on the trailer. Each afternoon Dick wouldfire up the BBQ creating smoke to alert the community that good food was on the way! You could alwaysstop by and strike up a conversation with Dick while he was cooking up some delicious tri-tip, chickenand ribs! As far as we know, this was the first BBQ of its kind to be used at a restaurant in the local area.

Dick enjoyed being surrounded by those with like interests. This led he and his wife to belong to severalclubs. First being the Pasadena Boat & Ski Club in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, where he formedmany lifelong friends. He went on to be active in the Gilroy Barnyard Bumpers square dance club once heand his wife moved to Gilroy. In his retirement years, he was active in the Stockton Yacht Club and theDelta Yacht Club. Dick was always one of the first to volunteer should there be work to do within any ofthe clubs he belonged to. He always made himself available to help those who needed him. He alsoparticipated in the Gilroy Garlic Festival for many years as a vendor.

Dick always had a special place in his heart for babies and lit up anytime the little ones were nearby. Hewas a proud husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Spending time with his family wasalways a priority. His family enjoyed many fun and adventurous times with Dick. His children andgrandchildren all say that FUN was his specialty. He always went along with the grandkids stories orcreated his own stories to make them laugh or scare them. His stories would include things like theBoogey Man, Swamp Monster or Skull Island that would get the kids excited and would always end inlaughter.

Dick will always be remembered for his crew cut and his love of Pepsi, malts, coconut cake, BBQ, driving, taking great naps, being a night owl, watching movies and his engineering mind.

Dick was always a hardworking man and always believed his glass was half full. He will be missed by hisfamily and friends.
