Richard S. Whitten Jr.

                           Richard S. Whitten, Jr., 95, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018.

                     He was the son of Richard S. Whitten, Sr. and Helen Frances Rohiing Whitten. He was lovingly called Sam. Sam was a graduate of Spring Hill College. He also attended LSI-J in Baton, Rouge. He had a Chemical Engineering degree. Sam retired from Boeing Aeronautics and retired in 1986. He was a World War Two veteran. Sam enlisted into the Navy in Dec. of 1942. He earned the rank of Torpedoman's Mate First Class (1). Sam served on USNTS San Diego, Calif, USS Lang and USS Burns. He was Honorably discharged on Jan 14th 1946.

                   Sam lived most of his life in Washington State. He lived his last years in Slidell, La. Richard S. Whitten, Jr. is survived by his sister Martha W. May. His nieces Patsy and Helen Mc Carthy. Daughter Frances Whitten Smith and son in law Terry R. Smith. Son Richard D. D. Whitten and daughter in law Marcia Whitten. Step daughter Della McIntyre Meyer and her husband Eugene Meyer. He had five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Sam will be missed greatly.
