Ricky Gordon Burroughs, 70, of Electra, Texas, passed away in Wichita Falls on Monday, May 19, 2025. Ricky was born on January 30, 1955 in Electra, Texas to Hesteline and Bill Burroughs.
Ricky played all sports throughout high school and college. He worked nearly 44 years in the oilfield while also working various other jobs and helping others when needed. Ricky also enjoyed cooking, always making sure everyone was fed, especially around the holidays. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge where he served as the former President. Ricky loved gathering with friends, and often helped to raise money for those in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hesteline and Bill Burroughs; and his brother, Billy Burroughs.
He is survived by his loving wife, Melinda of 25 years; his children, Holly Burroughs, Zach Burroughs, Melisa Cunningham, Kristan Johnson, and Ashley Dennison; thirteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
For those desiring, the family suggests memorial donations be made in honor of Ricky to the American Kidney Fund (kidneyfund.org).
A Celebration of Ricky’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.
