Irish prayer for the departed
Death is nothing at all
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I, and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Obituary
Rita's Obituary
Rita M. Gearon, a lifelong resident of Somerville, MA, passed away on January 29, 2025. Born and raised in Somerville, she was the beloved daughter of the late John Gearon and Margaret Corbett. Rita was a devoted sister to her eight late siblings: Patrick Gearon, John Gearon, Alice Robinson, Margret Furlong, Agnes Tracy, Mary Stanton, Anna Gearon, And Francis (Sonny) Gearon.
Rita lived independently in her own apartment until just recently. She passed away at the age of 97.
Rita dedicated her career to her role as a Secretary at the Bank of Boston, a position that allowed her to travel the world. Despite her travels, she enjoyed a simple life and was known for her incredible generosity towards her loved ones and numerous charities.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews: John Stanton of Scituate, MA, George E. Stanton Jr. (Eddie) of Florida, Kathleen Stanton (Kate) of Belmont, MA, David Stanton, Mary Stanton of Wareham, MA, and her grand nephew and nieces, Kevin Stanton of Quincy, MA, and Jaymie Stanton of Leominster, MA, along with many great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grand niece Jennie Stanton of Quincy, MA.
A Graveside Service will be held for Rita on Saturday morning at 11:00am in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to meet inside the front gate at 230 Playstead Rd., Medford, MA 02155.
