Rita L.'s Obituary

Rita Summers of Monrovia passed away peacefully April 20, 2025.  She was 75.  She was born September 24, 1949 in Brazil, the daughter of  Richard T and Eloise L Summers, whom preceded her in death.  Also preceded in death by her brothers Enos Summers, Terry Summers, Randall Summers Sr, and sister Xenia Nelson.

Rita graduated from Van Buren High School in 1967.  She had various careers in her adult life including accounts payable clerk for Crystal Flash for over 20 years, material handler for Moridan America, welder for Dana and TOA, and retired after working in the cafeteria in Monroe-Gregg School District.  

Rita loved to craft, work puzzles, read books, knit/crochet, and celebrate others accomplishments/special days.  She always went above and beyond to make others feel special and loved.  She was famous for her ability to grow plants and flowers, her beautiful knitted blankets (aunt Rita blankets), and her noodles.

She is survived by her sister Dameta (Larry) Rooze, brother Cletus (Lawanna) Summers, daughter Veronica (Jason) Collins, granddaughters Victoria and Rebecca, numerous nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews.  A Celebration of Life is planned for 11am Saturday June 14, 2025 at Conkle Funeral Home Avon with Visitation 10am-11am before the Service.
