Not sure what to say?

Rita was a special person with a gentle, generous nature. She was a great supporter of our band (The Hipsters) and was always a presence on the dance floor. Her impromptu visits bearing fruits and vegetables were always appreciated.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to her family and friends. Rita will undoubtedly be missed by all who knew her.

So thankful for kayaking because that’s how I met you and Pete. Whenever you joined our paddles, the fun factor shot up! Your presence, joy, humor, kindness, patience, strength, etc. will be deeply missed. I know your adventures will continue! Rest in Peace, my friend.

Dear Pete, and family. My deepest condolences to you all. Rita was a very special woman. She was caring, kind, thoughtful, and optomistic. Her strength perseverance, and passion for kayaking taight me so much. Her legacy will live on in all of the lives she touched. I am so sorry for your paim and loss.

Pete, please except my sincere condolences upon hearing the news of Rita's passing. It was always an absolute pleasure when Rita & yourself attended events that I had held for the local sea kayaking community. She was an exceptionally nice and kind person and will always be remembered as so.

RIP Rita. I remember fond times at The Hipsters shows in central Pennsylvania and State College. Forever Penn State proud and proud to have met you back then.

I was stunned to hear the sad news. The last time I heard from Rita, she was off on another adventure and she was looking for someone to share the experience with her. It seems she was always doing something new and exciting or important to humanity, or all of those things, all at once! There seemed to be no stopping her. My condolences to her family and loved ones.

Christmas party at Cmic 2024

Rita was an amazing human being, she was always a bright star among us and loved her family and friends like no other. Her smile, positive energy and love was always present when I had the good fortune to spend time with her . My heartfelt condolences go out to Pete, her brother Gary , and her special friend group who loved Wednesdays playing cards and laughing along with her for many years. Rest in peace my sweet friend.

Oh, this comes as such a shock to me! Rita was such a force of strength and energy, it’s hard to imagine the world without her. I hadn’t seen Rita in a few years, but thought of her often and always expected another call saying she was in my neighborhooddid I want to spend the day going to yard sales with her. Rest in peace, my dear friend. ❤

I only knew Rita a few years from sea kayaking. It was always a good paddle when she and Pete were there. I have many found memories and pictures paddling together. She also helped with kayak pool sessions for us learning to roll our kayaks (without exiting). I was a little discouraged that I haven't learned to roll in two years but it was Rita who encouraged me just this past December at our Christmas Banquet to continue to try/learn. I believe she said it took her five (or was three?) years...
