Robert H. Aaronson, III, 84, formerly of Crosswicks, NJ passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2025 in Lakewood, CO.
Born in Trenton, Bob was raised in Bordentown. He attended the Bordentown Military Institute and later the Peddie School and received his bachelor’s degree in psychology at Davis and Elkins. He was also a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon. Bob worked for the family insurance company, RH Aaronson & Son, Insurance for five years. Bob was next a Bordentown Police Officer. He retired as a Pre-Trial Intervention Officer from Burlington County Department of Probation, a program he was tasked with starting. Bob was very active in his community. He began his volunteering in 1966, first as a fire fighter and fire police for several fire departments, including Hope Hose in Bordentown, Chesterfield Fire Company and Jacobstown Fire Company. He was also active with the Masonic Organization, as a 60-year member of Mount Moriah F&AM and the Crescent Shriners.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and was a member of the Stump Jumpers Rod and Gun Club. Bob was a lifetime member of the NRA and served as a Hunter Safety Instructor for the State of New Jersey for many years.
Health concerns precipitated his move to Colorado in 2016 to be close to his niece and her family. He loved the Colorado environment with the Rockies at his doorstep. He in one calendar year visited all 41 Colorado state parks thus becoming the sixth person to do so and the eldest by far. He was proud of that accomplishment and with no GPS.
Bob was an avid and active supporter of non-profits in NJ and CO, notably Woodford’s Cedar Run Sanctuary and White’s Bogs in NJ as well as The Wildlife Animal Sanctuary and National Mill Dog Sanctuary in CO.
Predeceased by his parents, Margaretta and Robert H. Aaronson, Jr., Bob is survived by his sister Susan Hinckley, his niece and her husband, Marjorie and Michael Garard and by his great nieces, Olivia and Peggy Garard (Alex Gault).
A private burial will be held in Mansfield Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
