Robert Tagawa passed away peacefully in Lake Placid, FL, on July 29, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on March 31, 1945, at the Gila River Japanese Internment Camp in Arizona, Bob lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Sally and Hiroshi Tomita. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Jessica Tagawa, cherished daughters, Alicia Wong (Brian) of Elk Grove, CA, and Linsie Gentile (Anthony) of Moorpark, CA, and grandchildren Mason, Chase and Vanessa Wong, and Aaron and Nathan Gentile whom he adored. He is remembered by his brother Kenneth Tomita and sister Jolyne Budmark.
After serving honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, Bob continued his commitment to service as a manager with the United States Postal Service for 32 years.
In 2003, Bob and Jessica moved from Sacramento, CA to Lake Placid, FL where they found a welcoming community and a spiritual home at the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Lake Placid.
Bob was known for his loyalty, kindness, and deep religious faith. He loved cars and remembered his 1965 red Corvette Stingray convertible with fond memories. He also enjoyed watching his favorite television show, "Blue Bloods," often finding comfort in its themes of family and justice.
Bob's life was a testament to his strong character and the love he had for his family and community. He leaves a legacy of compassion and generosity by all who knew him.
Bob will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace.
