Robert “Bob” Dean UllrichJuly 26, 1933 – September 6, 2025
Robert “Bob” Dean Ullrich, 92, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
Bob was born on July 26, 1933, in Herrick, South Dakota, to Arthur and Margaret (Ackerman) Ullrich. He grew up in Rockford, Illinois, where he began his lifelong love of baseball, farming alongside his father and playing ball whenever he had the chance.
Bob met the love of his life, Jennilee (Larson) Ullrich, in Rockford. They married and built their life together, raising their four children in Madison, South Dakota before returning to Rockford. After Jennilee’s passing, Bob moved to Sioux Falls to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Bob wore many hats: husband, father, grandfather, friend, farmer, businessman, hunter, fisherman, woodworker, and collector. He enjoyed refinishing old furniture, collecting baseball cards, and listening to old country music. A lifelong Cubs fan, Bob was thrilled to see them win the World Series in 2016. He also cheered faithfully—if not always joyfully—for the Minnesota Vikings.
Bob’s faith was central to his life. He was active in his church, generous with his time, and kind to a fault. His selflessness, gentle spirit, and steady presence will be remembered by all who knew him.
Bob is survived by his children: Jeffrey (Renae) Ullrich of Rapid City, SD; Kim Ullrich of Palm Desert, CA; Kris Rocky of Phoenix, AZ; and Kelly Boyd of Sioux Falls, SD. He is also survived by his sister, Janet Stukenberg; grandchildren Shaun Vanderloo, Tim Rocky, Erin Rocky, Katelyn Boyd, Joshua Boyd, and Matthew Boyd; and great-granddaughters Lilyana and Savannah Vanderloo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jennilee; his siblings, Don Ullrich and Eva Didier; and many dear friends and relatives.
Bob’s family finds comfort in knowing he is at peace and reunited with those he loved. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
A memorial service will be held Monday, October 27, 2025 at 2:00pm at Heritage Funeral Home with family present to greet friends.
