Robert George Burton

Robert “Bob” George Burton, 83, of rural Paxton died at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2017 at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells St., with Pastor Terry Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Elliott Cemetery, Elliott. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Robert was born June 3, 1934 in McClean County the son of George and Vanza Huff Burton. He married Carolyn Higginson on October 22, 1960 in Fairbury. She survives. Along with his wife, he is survived by six children, Bonnie Burton of Houston, TX, Marsha (Bato) Barbato of Houston, TX, Duane Burton of Paxton, Mike Burton of Paxton, Becky Burton of Paxton, Kim (Ernie) Hoopingarner of Paxton; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and one brother, Roger (Heagin) Burton of Urbana. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dick Burton. Bob was a commercial painter and was known to be a “jack of all trades”.
