Robert James Cox

Robert James Cox, age 84, passed away on February 26, 2026, in Fernley, Nevada. Robertwas born January 22, 1941, in Townsville, Australia, to Josephine Poe. He moved to the UnitedStates in 1946, when he was five years old. After graduating from Belmont High School in LosAngeles, he was employed at Bullock’s Department Store. While employed at Bullock’s, Robertwas drafted into the United States Army. He served in the Vietnam War between 1964 and1965. When he returned home from Vietnam, he returned to work at Bullock’s DepartmentStore, where he met the love of his life, Armida, in 1968. They were married on January 31,1970. Robert retired from Bullock’s in 1987, after which he and Armida moved to Las Vegas.He was employed there as a butcher at the Rio Hotel and Casino. Following his retirement as abutcher, Robert and Armida moved to Reno, Nevada.Robert is survived by Armida Cox, his wife of 56 years. He is also survived by his brothers,Russell and Pete, as well as his sisters: Diane, Susan, Frances, and Helen. He was preceded indeath by his brother, Kirk. Robert had four children: David, Daniel, Alec, and Staci, as well as adaughter-in-law, Cecile, and son-in-law, Donnie. He had nine grandchildren: Travis, Nicholas,Rachel, Alli, Andrew, Adonis III, Courtney, Xena, and Cameron. He had one great-grandchild,Emmett.Rosary and mass will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 10:30am at St. Patrick’sCatholic Church in Fallon, Nevada followed by a burial at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Fernley,Nevada at 1:00pm.
