Robert Cornelius Davis, affectionately known as “Bobby,” was called home to be with the Lord on September 25, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on November 13, 1938, in Newport News, VA where he lived a full and meaningful life defined by faith, family, service, and love. He was preceded in death by his parents, George A. Davis and Mary I. Parker; his sisters, Joyce Hunt and Sandra Maynard, and his brother, George Davis. Bobby leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 44 years, Pearl Davis. Together they built a strong and enduring bond rooted in love, laughter, and devotion. He is survived by his son, Rodney Davis; grandson, Daniel Davis (Katarina); granddaughters, Olivia Davis and Elyssa Davis. He is also remembered with love by his children: Renee Coles, Lawrence Coles, Kevin Coles, Shawn Coles, Lyle Coles (Sandra), and Lori Vann (Aaron). In addition, he leaves behind five more grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends who became family. Bobby was a proud graduate of Carver High School, Class of 1966. Shortly after, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served his country faithfully for two years. Following his service, he pursued a career in the medical field, becoming the first Black medical detail salesman at Owens & Minor, where he worked with passion and professionalism for nearly 15 years. He loved his work and carried himself with excellence in all that he did. A man of deep faith, Bobby was a dedicated member of First Baptist Morrison, where he served joyfully in the choir, as a deacon, and in many other church activities. He held his church family in high regard and lived his faith with sincerity and humility. Those who knew Bobby will remember his easy going spirit, joyful nature, and the way he could make anyone smile. With a song always ready on his lips, he often serenaded family and friends, filling rooms with laughter and warmth. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved traveling, watching westerns, and enjoying his favorite sport, golf. Bobby’s magnetic personality, sharp sense of humor, and generous heart left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. His legacy is one of love, faith, and joy, a true reflection of a life well lived. Service will be held Saturday October 11, 2025 @ 11am at First Baptist Church (Morrison) 12720 Patrick Henry Drive Newport News, VA 23602. “God is good all the time, all the time God is good.”Favorite Scriptures: John 3:16 and Matthew 25:21
