Robert's Obituary

Celebrating the LifeRobert Dean, Sr. (affectionately known as Monzo) was born in Hawthorne, La., on March 8, 1940 to the union of the late Willie Dean, Sr. and the late Missionary Mamie Wright Dean. He accepted the Lord as his personal savior at an early age under the leadership of the late Elder Wesley Crowell. On Saturday, June 9, 2018 the Lord called him home to glory. He worked at the City Café as a cook, G&M garage as a mechanic, and in 2003 he retired from Leesville High School as a custodian. He lived in Hawthorne all of his life and spent countless hours making sure that the land he passionately called “The Ponderosa” was well-manicured with beautiful flowers and fruit trees. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and farming which he shared freely with many in the both the Hawthorne & Leesville communities. He was faithful to the Mt. Olive BC and enjoyed being a member of the male chorus. He was also a member of the Leesville Men’s Mentoring Club. He loved going the musicals held at the surrounding churches. He was one who never met a stranger. He always had a warm smile on his face and loved to laugh and make other laugh with the stories he had to tell. Many would ask for his advice on gardening, fixing cars, cooking and life. He got pleasure out of explaining those things or by simply handing out nuggets of knowledge. He may not have had a college degree but he certainly had a PhD in wisdom. He loved his family and would always put their interest first. He saw to it that his children were given the best he could provide. The example he lived by day by day will forever be a goal for his family to strive to reach.Robert Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, Bro. Willie Dean, Sr. and Missionary Mamie B.
