My mother met him the first day she moved in and they were together until her death on October 19th. I came to see him but he was asleep that night. I whispered to him how much I appreciated him. I send his family my condolences and I know they are all together having a great time.

I was at the Missouri Veterans' Home when Bob came to live there. Whenever I saw him, he was always pleasant even when his health declined. May God bless his family members during this sad time and may God's Perpetual Light shine upon Bob.

I am a volunteer at the VA home where Bob was living. I took care of him and Dorothy two days a week and got to know Bob very well. He loved the days I could take them outside. He asked every day if they could go. I will miss Bob greatly as I do Dorothy. I loved them both very much. My condolences to his family.

I would like to send my condolences to the Doerr family. I attended elementary school at Ebenezer Lutheran School and I had 2 friends - Paul and Bob Doerr who grew up in Baden as I did. I am trying to locate Paul and Bob. My cell # is (636) 387-8781. I live in Arnold, MO. I also ride with the Patriot Guard Riders and I will try to attend the funeral to give honor and respect to Mr. Doerr for his military service. Thank you, Ray Hasting

Doerr, Robert P. fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Wednesday, November 25, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Mary Alice Doerr (nee Jasper). Dear brother of Conrad J. Doerr & the late Olivia M. Redeker & Clarence A. Doerr. Uncle of Dolores Krebs & Steven Doerr. Our dear brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, cousin & friend to many. Bob was a longtime Alderman for the city of Bellefontaine Neighbors; he was retired from the St. Louis Post Dispatch as a Pressman and a member of The International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 38 and the Graphic Communications Conference. He was an active member of the North County Labor Legislative Club and the St. Ferdinand Township Democratic Club. He belonged to the Ft. Bellefontaine American Legion Post # 335 and the Baden VFW Post. Alderman Robert Patrick Edward Doerr announced he would not be seeking reelection to the office of Alderman, Ward 1 of the City of Bellefontaine Neighbors and would retire effective April, 2002 after a total of 42 years of public service.Bob and Mary Doerr moved into a display house on Bellefontaine Road in 1953, shortly after Bob was discharged at the rank of Sergeant in the U. S. Army. At that time the city was in it’s infancy, with half of the population as now. Bob returned to the job he had before he went into the service at the Post-Dispatch. Bob and Mary became respected members of the community and Bob was appointed to the Traffic Commission in 1960. He was appointed Chairman of the commission in 1961 and served in that position for 4 years. Bob ran for his first position in public office in 1962 and was defeated. His second attempt for public office in 1965 was successful: the rest is history. During his 37 years in the office of Alderman, Bob was a driving factor in many issues, including the concept and bond issue to build the Recreation Center which is now an anchor of the community, providing indoor and outdoor pool, exercise room, racket ball courts and meeting rooms. The Center was only a vision when Bob took office, and now it is not only a reality, but paid for! Bob is proud of the Center and City.
