Robert D. Grygla, 88, Riverton, Utah passed away peacefully at home after living with cancer for five years.
Robert was born September 9, 1936, to Kenneth Eugene and Clara Gee Grygla in Leamington, Utah.
After attending school all day, he would spend the rest of his hours working for the local farmers. Robert graduated from Delta High School and then enlisted in the US Army where he was stationed in Hawaii.
When he returned home from the Army, he began working at Kennecott Copper Mine where he completed a four-year apprenticeship as a Journeyman Lineman and retired after 30+ years.
In 1962, Robert married Linda Allred and was later sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. An ordinance that ensured their relationship would continue beyond this life. They have four children, Gary (Angela), Lori, Tereah (Jim), Ryan (Lara), grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Robert loved to work and had many jobs. He was a bus driver for Jordan School District, worked at Intermountain Power Plant, drove a dump truck and worked with his brother Jay doing excavation. In his later years, he worked at the Utah State Capitol during the legislative sessions. Robert was a hard worker, always busy and willing to lend a helping hand.
Robert is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was an Eagle Scout and served in many callings throughout his life, including being an Ordinance Worker in the Jordan River Temple for many years.
One of his favorite places to be was in the mountains camping. He could always be found riding his ATV and being a Guide on several ATV trips, toasting marshmallows and telling stories around the fire pit.
Robert always loved having his family around. He was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa.
Viewing services will be Monday, July 14 at Broomhead Funeral Home, 6-8 PM,12600 South 2200 West, Riverton, Utah, and Tuesday, July 15 visitation at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Riverton 6th Ward Chapel, 12345 South 2700 West, at 10:00 AM, Funeral at 11:00 AM. The internment will take place at the Riverton City Cemetery following the funeral.
