Bob & I go back to Paris Island & then ended up together in Lima company in Nam. Bob was a great Marine & warrior ! I am sorry. Semper Fi brother !

RIP my long time friend. My deepest sympathy to Barbara & all the family.

My deepest sympathies to Auntie Barbara, Ricky, Vinny, Bobby, Justin and their families. Life long friends of my parents, affectionately referred to as Uncle Bobby and Auntie Barbara. I have many fond memories of how generous you were to my sister, brother and I. And how honored I was to have you sit as my family at my wedding! Uncle Bobby will be missed by his extended Maine family! May his memory live on through all who loved him ❤

Dear Barbara and family
I am very sad to hear of the passing of my childhood friend Bobby. We grew up across the street from each other on Illinois Ave. He was a joker with a great sense of humor and someone you could count on. We spent many good times together at each other’s homes along with his mom Helen Aunt Rita and brother Jimmy. We lost touch for a long time and then both ended up in Tewksbury and ran into each other occasionally in Market basket. I am so sorry for your loss....

We are so sorry for you Barbara and your family.
Bob was a cherished and loving friend and we will miss him forever. He helped Rich in big ways over & over.
We send love and deepest sympathy.
Semper Fi Bob!

My deepest condolences to the Hodnett family. Bob and I had a lot of laughs working together at the butcher shop. I have very fond memories of him.

Semper Fi Marine

Robert's Obituary

Robert F. Hodnett, Sr. of Tewksbury passed away on September 30, 2025, he was 76. Born in Cambridge and raised in Somerville, Robert was the son of the late Helene (Kelley) and James C. Hodnett. A proud Marine, he enlisted in the Marine Corps during Vietnam. He was assigned to Lima 3/1 and sustained injuries during battle of the airstrip for which he was awarded two purple hearts. Following his honorable discharge, he continued his service and joined the Somerville Police Department.

Robert enjoyed playing golf in earlier years and was an avid sports fan. He always supported the Patriots and Celtics but didn’t care for the Red Sox. As a history buff, he especially enjoyed War History. “Once a Marine, always a Marine”, he attended the annual Marine Corps Reunion where he enjoyed reconnecting with his fellow Marines. On occasion, he could be found at Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun trying his luck at the casino or playing bingo. Above all he enjoyed time spent with his family.

The beloved husband of Barbara (Chiodo) Hodnett, together they were married over 40 years. He was the father of Ricky Silvestri, Vinny Silvestri, Robert Hodnett and his wife Erika and Justin Hodnett and his wife Dufay. Dear brother of James Hodnett and his wife Sandra of Kennebunk, Maine. Cherished Grampy of Kylee, Abbigail, Matthew, Sophia, Whitlee and Kennedi.
