Robert Dewey Ivey, Sr., age 92, of Lumberton, NC died on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. He was born in Boardman, NC on September 20, 1924 to the late Dewey and Betty Price Ivey. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He served in the infantry and fought in Europe during World War II. He was the owner/operator of Robert D. Ivey Plumbing & Piping for over 45 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 69 years, Ida Walters Ivey; and sisters, Helen Mayes and Betty Martin.
Mr. Ivey is survived by a son Robert Ivey, Jr. (Sandi) of Lumberton; daughters, Judy Ivey Kissam (Mayo) of Albuquerque, NM and Rene Ivey of Winston-Salem; brothers, Casper Ivey of Fairmont and Rupert “Doc” Ivey of Dillon, SC; a sister, Josephine Walters of Barnesville; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 East 5th Street in Lumberton.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Meadowbrook Cemetery with Rev. David Hawes officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials are encouraged to be made to Lumberton Rescue & EMS, P.O. Box 166, Lumberton, NC 28359 or Godwin Heights Baptist Church Bus Fund, 704 Godwin Avenue, Lumberton, NC 28358.
