Robert Macaluso, born July 10, 1948, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and a lifelong passion for nature and conservation.He shared 54 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Anne, whose partnership was the foundation of his life. Together, they built a family grounded in loyalty, compassion, and enduring commitment.Robert devoted much of his professional life to education and environmental stewardship as the Field Station Manager at Brookdale Community College’s Sandy Hook Field Station, where he took great pride in his work and in preserving the natural environment he cared for so deeply.He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Claire Macaluso, as well as his brother, Ralph, and his sister, JoAnn. He is survived by his brother, Tony; his three children, David, Andrew, and Allison, along with their families; and many loving nieces and nephews.Lovingly known as “Papa” to his six grandchildren—Cassandra, Cody, Caleb, Giovanni, Luciano, and Ian—he will be fondly remembered for his appreciation of home-cooked gourmet meals, his love of fishing, and the care he gave to his vegetable garden. A teacher at heart, he never missed an opportunity to share his knowledge of nature. His wisdom will live on through them.Robert will be remembered for his steady presence, his deep care for family, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew him.
