Robert's Obituary

Salem…Mr. Robert E. Reece, Sr., age 83, husband of Fay B. (Green) Reece, died Friday afternoon, April 22, 2011 at North Shore Medical Center, Salem Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born and educated in Niskayuna, NY. Following High School, Robert entered the United States Navy and served his Country during WWII. While he was stationed in Memphis, Tennessee, Robert met his future wife at a YMCA dance. They married and would have celebrated their 65th anniversary this July. They settled in Schenectady, NY and he was employed as a Tin Smith with General Electric. He relocated to Salem with his family in 1961 to work with General Electric in Lynn, until his retirement in 1987 when he was 60 years old. Robert loved baseball and football and most especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play. He also enjoyed watching pro sports. Robert took great pride and joy caring for his yard and lawn.Surviving him in addition to his loving wife are 2 children, Robert E. Reece, Jr. and his wife Sandy of Peabody; Linda S. Parsons of Salem; one sister, Janet Northcutt of Canon City, CO; 3 grandchildren, Ryan Parsons and his wife Michelle of Amesbury; Garrett Parsons and his wife Karolyn of Salem; James Reece of Peabody; 5 great grandchildren, Julia, Nathan, Andrew, Xavier and Deacon; and several nieces and nephews.His Funeral Service will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St. (cor of North St) on Thursday at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. As requested by the family, there are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Plummer Home for Boys, 37 Winter Island Rd, Salem, MA 01970 or to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
