I remember "Sarge" very fondly from our days as shipmates in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was always a kind and happy person. My heartfelt condolences to his family and may God Bless Him.

You will be missed Uncle Bob. Especially at the horseshoe pit. Say hi to Aunty Bert and Aunty Sis. Love ya

Robert "Sarge"'s Obituary

Mr. Robert John Sargent Jr. "Sarge", 75, of 21 Norman Ave., died Monday, Oct. 27, 2014 at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility in Pittsfield. He was born in Pittsfield on Sept. 8, 1939 a son of the late Robert J. & Charlotte B. (Mead) Sargent. He attended Pittsfield Schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1958. He was employed by E.D. Jones & Beloit Jones in Dalton for 37 years and retired in 1998. He served with the Coast Guard during the Viet Nam War and from 1958 to 1966 was in the Coast Guard Reserves. Robert was kind and well respected person and was a life long bowler at Ken's Bowl and played softball for the Beloit Jones team and enjoyed hiking and walking. He also was a member of Local 212 and was a shop steward and sergeant at arms. Survivors include his wife, the former Gaetane M. St. Jean,they were married on Sept. 19, 1959. One son, James R. Sargent of Eagle River, Alaska, one sister, Joyce Mastorakis of Granby, Mass, 10 grandchildren; James (J.R.), Courtney Anne, Maygan, Austin, Abigail, Autumn, Clayton, Harmony, Charlie, Shayana and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral Services will take place Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME 5 Elm St, Pittsfield, MA. 01201 with the Rev. John C. Salatino, Pastor of St. Mark Church officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
