Robert's Obituary

Robert Scheafer, affectionately known as Bob, an esteemed electrical engineer, and beloved community member, was called to eternal rest on February 7, 2024, in Raton, New Mexico, at the age of 88. Born on June 1, 1935, in Pueblo, Colorado, Bob's life was a testament to dedication, work, and service.

Bob's early years were spent in Pueblo, where he served as an altar boy at Saint Leander's Church and worked as a paperboy for the Pueblo Chieftain. He biked across town to Pueblo Catholic High School and worked at a print shop after school. Bob's pursuit of higher education led him to New Mexico State University, where he was a part of the inaugural CO-OP class, alternating between studying and working at White Sands Missile Range in the telemetry division. He graduated on his birthday, June 1, 1957, with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

After graduation, Bob accepted an offer from Milt Redford and Arthur Maciszewski to work at ARF Products in Raton, NM, where he dedicated 34 years. Their products included contracts with the United States Army and White Sands Missile Range, radar systems, alarm systems, and CB radios. In his later years, Bob led a team at Raton Public Service where he proposed, and his crew installed the downtown ornamental lights that beautified the city.

He was actively involved in his community participating in events, leading Boy Scouts, a member of the Raton Rotary Club for over 50 years, and a member of Friends of Sugarite State Park. He loved to travel with his wife, Cindy, and their son, Matthew to United States Air Force Football games, and loved hiking. Bob remained a faithful reader of his beloved Pueblo Chieftain newspaper.

Bob leaves behind a legacy of dedication to his family, his work, and his community. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Scheafer, and his son, Matthew Scheafer. Bob will be remembered for his kindness, his pioneering spirit in the field of electrical engineering, and his unwavering support of his family and community.

Services will be on Wednesday, February 14th, 2024. The recitation of the holy Rosary by Frank Cimino will begin at 11 am, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial with Fr. Bill Woytavich, Officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A luncheon reception will be held at K-Bobs Restaurant. Friends and former co-workers are invited.

Arrangements for Robert Scheafer are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
