Always a happy fellow...that was Robert. I remember his friendship with my parents for years and how I was able to create a great bond with him as well. He was a wonderful man that I know will be missed. Prayers for all the family at this time.

Mr. Robert Schofield, a lifelong resident of Florala, Alabama, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on December 26, 1939, Robert was raised in the Florala community he so dearly loved and proudly called home for nearly his entire life.
Robert’s love for his hometown was evident in the joy he found in community traditions, especially the annual 24th of June Celebration—a cherished time when friends and families reunited to honor Florala’s spirit. He looked forward each year to that day of fellowship, laughter, and memories shared with those he had grown up with.
For many years, Robert owned and operated the Gulf Station in Florala, a local landmark that became much more than a service station—it was a place where kindness, trust, and friendship were extended daily. Robert never turned anyone away because of their circumstances. Whether someone needed gas, a car repair, or simply a helping hand, he gave freely of his time and resources. His quiet generosity and compassion touched countless lives throughout the community.
Robert had a lifelong passion for automobiles. He not only repaired them but collected and celebrated them as a member of the local car club, where he enjoyed sharing his love of classic cars and good company.
Above all, Robert was devoted to his family. He was the steady presence they could always depend on—for support, guidance, and unconditional love. When his son Larry suffered a debilitating stroke, Robert set aside his own pursuits to care for him, ensuring that every need was met. His life was a testament to loyalty, sacrifice, and selfless love.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Clayton Schofield; mother, Camelia Bush Schofield; and brothers, Cecil Schofield and Jerome Schofield.
He is survived by his sons, Larry Schofield and Harold Nobles; his daughter, Jerri Matz; brother, Gerald Schofield ( Sandra); and sisters, Jean Broxton and Marie Treadway (Billy). He is also survived by a large extended family and a host of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends who will continue to cherish his memory.
Robert’s life was defined by service, kindness, and love for others. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him and in the community he so deeply cared for.
A celebration of Life Service for Robert Schofield will be 2PM Friday November 14, 2025 at Evans Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1PM.
