Robert D. Thurman, Sr., 80, of Roanoke, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Phyllis R. Thurman, and 2 sisters.He was retired from the Roanoke City School System.He is survived by his children: Becky and Eddie Gillie, Robert D. Thurman, Jr., Kay and Kenny Kiser, David Thurman, Jean and Phillip LePage, all of Roanoke. Grandchildren; Jamie Gillie, Kristy Gillie, Heather Thurman, Justin Thurman, James Morris and Kelly Morris. Great-grandchildren; Matthew, Cheyenne, McKenzie, Cameron and Kendell, a brother, Lynwood Thurman of Roanoke.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 6-9 PM at Oakey?s North Chapel.
