Single Tree

He was my bishop when I moved into bluffdale at 7 years old. I remember him often shoveling our lane with his tractor when we had heavy snow. Fond memories of Bishop VanDam and his family. ❤

Single Tree

Jeremy and myself are recipients of Bishop Van Dams services many moons ago. He was amazing and very friendly towards many that knew him. We loved this family very much.

Ted.you will be missed. You had such a great smile, an amazing sense of humor, and a great big heart. You were always there to help everyone. Don’t know what we will do without you. I love you very much.

In loving memory of my older brother (Robert T. Van Dam). We called him Ted.
My brother Ted was the second to the oldest of our family of nine. He was a person who was always helping everyone. He brought us wood for our fireplace. He helped settle my mother's estate when she died. He and his wife Marilyn were always there to help. We will miss him and his kind words and spirit of love and compassion.

Robert's Obituary

Robert Theodore Van Dam Jr. June 26, 1948 – December 18, 2024

Robert Theodore Van Dam Jr., lovingly known as "Ted," was born on June 26, 1948, to Robert T. Van Dam Sr. and Elaine Van Dam. He passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.

Ted was a man of boundless energy and unshakable optimism. As an entrepreneur, he founded Diamond Tree Experts, a company that remains a testament to his hard work, vision, and commitment to excellence. He lived by the motto, “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right,” and frequently shared another guiding belief: “Whether you believe you can or believe you cannot, you are right.”

Ted met the love of his life, Marilyn, and they were married on May 15, 1967. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family. They were blessed with four beautiful children and were later sealed for eternity in the LDS Temple on September 22, 1985.

A man of deep faith and dedication, Ted cherished his many callings within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He found immense joy serving in the Bishopric, Elders Quorum, and especially working with the Young Men’s group. Alongside Marilyn, affectionately called "Mert," Ted served an LDS mission in Nauvoo, Illinois, as well as multiple missions within Utah.

Ted had a heart for service and a spirit of adventure. He was happiest when helping others, whether through community projects or lending a hand to a friend in need. An avid athlete and lover of the outdoors, Ted embraced life fully, inspiring everyone around him with his enthusiasm and drive.

Ted is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elaine Van Dam; his brothers, Stephen and Scott Van Dam; his sister, Vicki Hodges; his eldest son, Troy Van Dam and grandson Chase Jackson.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn; his children, Traci & Greg Turner, Robert (Trent) & Tiffany Van Dam, Tralynn & Jon Hanks. His 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and joy; and his extended family, including nieces, nephews, and countless friends who became like family.

Ted leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience. His family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him will forever cherish the lessons he imparted, the kindness he shared, and the unwavering positivity he brought into the world.

Ted’s life reminds us to live with purpose, embrace challenges, and serve others wholeheartedly. He will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
