Robert's Obituary

On Monday November 10, 2025 Robert Williams, Jr, a father, grandfather, brother and friend transitioned from this life at the age of 74. Robert was born to Robert Ted Williams, Sr. and Ida Mae Miller Williams on February 6, 1951. Robert’s mother passed away during childbirth and he was raised by his uncle Charlie (buck) and Gladys Williams. His father, Robert,Sr later married Mrs. Ruby Williams.

Robert was baptized at St. James COGIC by the late Supt. Warren Foster in 1990. Robert attended John H. Martin High School and married his high school sweetheart, Lorraine Buckner Williams and in their 20 year union there were born four children Robert Williams III married to Natasha, Darren Williams married to Cherrika, Shalita married to Michael Moore, and Shannon married to Renada Thompson.

Robert was the lead vocalist in the band well known as The Living and Dead Revue in the early 70's late 80's. The band performed throughout the New Orleans metro area. On June 12, 1982 Robert received a heart transplant by a team of surgeons at Ochsner hospital. God blessed him to live for a blessed 38 years with the transplant. He is one of the longest living transplant patients in the history of Ochsner.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Father, Step-Mother Mrs.Ruby Williams, Uncle Charlie (Buck) Williams, and Mrs. Gladys Williams, and siblings Doris Williams, Warren Williams, Betty Ann Williams, Augustine Williams, Lionel Williams , and Bobby Jean Williams.

He leaves behind his long time companion Ms.  Dorothy Brown, his Sisters Verlisar Williams Marquez, Detter Conway, and Janice Davis, and brothers Roosevelt Williams, and  Charlie Williams, and twelve grandchildren, Rachelle (Jarvenso), Jada, Olivia, Daisa, Hannah, Robert IV, Mia, Renada Jr, Jamarion, Rashaad, Juwyne,  Duwyne , and two great grandchildren Journi ,Elias, one god-child  Dayvon Williams and a host of nieces and nephews.

Our Dad always longed for his mother whom God called home at his birth. He wondered what she was like and would sometimes cry about how he never had a chance to meet his mom. The bond between he and his mother was never broken, and we can only hope he was able to rest in the arms of Jesus along with his mother, Grandma Ida Mae Williams. Take your rest Daddy.
