Robert's Obituary

Robert R. Zavada age 70, of Manistee, Michigan, died Monday evening, April 14, 2025 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan, surrounded by his family. Bob was born on August 29, 1954 in Traverse City, Michigan and was the son of the late Ray J. and Donna M. (Archer) Zavada. Bob married Gail A. Gauthier, on July 21, 1979 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Onekama, Michigan.  Bob was owner and operator of Double R Lawn Service for thirty-six years.

He is survived by his wife Gail A. Zavada of Manistee, MI, his daughter, Adele Zavada and his son and daughter in-law, Dennis and Jelena Zavada all of Kalamazoo, MI, two sisters and brother’s in-law, Suzie and Chip Campbell of Cadillac, MI, and Sandi and Randy Edens of Manistee, MI, his brother and sister in-law, Ray and Cindy Zavada of Fenton, MI, his sister in-law, Patti Janowiak of Manistee, MI, two brother’s in-law LaVerne Gauthier and Christopher Gauthier both of Manistee, MI, his close friends, John Nyrkkanen of Kaleva, MI, Darryl Kott and Millicent Biers both of Manistee, MI. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Donna (Archer) Zavada, his infant brother Richard Zavada, his father in-law and mother in-law, Bernard and Daisy Gauthier, two brother’s in-law, Dennis Gauthier and Bruce Janowiak, and his close friends Karl Waitner and Ron Sutter.

According to Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. The Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee is in charge of funeral arrangements.
