I grew up next door to Roberta, went through school with her, graduated from high school with her, competed with her, and loved her since we were both five years old. I found out about her death when I tried to call her to wish her a happy birthday. She didn't quite make it to 92, but she came close. My 92nd birthday is coming up in about four months. I always trailed Roberta, and I'm still trailing her.

I had the pleasure of meeting Roberta when she was working at the California Air Resources Board. We knew a couple Gilroy people in common. Such a public spirited person - exactly the quality ingredient for public service. A Tip of the Hat to Roberta and condolences to her family.

My sincere condolences to the family. Roberta was a wonderful lady and brought much to Gilroy.

When I first arrived in Gilroy, Roberta encouraged me to become involved with my new community. I was just one of many that she encouraged and inspired.

She’ll always be “Aunt Robbie” to me. Catechism was never the same after her teaching us. Rest easy, dear lady.

Thank you for all that you did for Gilroy and blazing a trail, so that others may follow.
