Rogene Lucille Chalker

Rogene (Merkey) Chalker of Manistee, Michigan, died Thursday, May 1, 2025 at the Wexford Senior Care Center in Cadillac, Michigan. She was born on September 12, 1945 in Manistee, Michigan daughter of the late Harold and Eleanore (Jados) Merkey. Rogene married Paul Chalker on September 26, 1964 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee, Michigan. Paul preceded her in death on August 15, 2015. Rogene was also preceded in death by her sister Sharon “Shari” Merkey on June 22, 2018.

She is survived by her care givers and close friends, Ashley Chinavare and John Sian both of Manistee.

According to Rogene’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time. The Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee is in charge of funeral arrangements.
