Roger's Obituary

 Roger DuWayne Boelman, 94, of Belmond, IA, most recently a resident of the Rock Creek Senior Living Community, Ankeny, IA, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at his home in Ankeny, IA.  Public funeral services will be held Thursday, December 26, 2024, at 10:00 AM, at Resurrection Lutheran Church, Ankeny, IA. The Reverend Beth Wartick will be officiating.  Public visitation will be held from 9-10 AM, on that morning at the church in Ankeny, followed by a luncheon and time of fellowship at the church.  Burial will then follow the luncheon at the Belmond Cemetery, Belmond, IA. Andrews Funeral Homes, Belmond, IA.  Memorials are suggested to the Resurrection Lutheran Church, 914 Northwest Ash St., Ankeny, IA 50023 or to the donor's choice. Expressions of sympathy may also be mailed to Lucille Boelman, 3602 Norhtwest 5th Street, Ankeny, IA 50023.  He was born on July 7, 1930, near Palsville, IA, just east of Belmond to Nysco and Fannie (Pals) Boelman, the youngest of four children.  He attended country school through the 8th grade when he left school to help his dad on the family farm east of Belmond for the next 6 years.        In 1951 he began farming on his own.  He met Lucille Hohensee of Pocahontas, Iowa when she was visiting her sister in Belmond.  They married February 25, 1951, and shared 73 years together.         Throughout his life Roger enjoyed farming, his Holstein Cows and all animals, especially his dogs. Roger was never one to not be busy. Besides farming and milking he drove semis, school bus, did plumbing and mowing and landscaping.  In his spare time, he loved to fish in Minnesota, watching sprint car races in Knoxville, Iowa, playing cards, having coffee with his friends at True Value and Bloemke's, Model A Club, and afternoon naps.       He was dedicated to doing for others through the Lions Club serving as President and Tail Twister, member of ASC boards and various leadership roles at his church.       He is survived by his wife Lucy and his daughter Vickie Boelman both of Ankeny and daughter Lou Ann (Steve) Mohr of Eldridge, Iowa; grandsons Matt Boelman (Jessica) of Polk City, Ryan Bemrich (Samantha) Coralville, IA;  Jay (Jodi) Bemrich of Mc Causland; step grandson Josh (Lindsey) Mohr of Waukee; great grandchildren Regan, Charlie, and Jax Boelman, Nolan and Jordan Bemrich; step great grandchildren Henry and Sully Mohr; sisters-in-law Louise Hohensee and Larene Nomann, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.  Andrews Funeral Homes, Belmond, IA is handling funeral arrangements.  http://www.andrewsfuneralhomeandfloral.com   641-444-4474
