Roger Dale Bogar, 69, of Hardy, KY, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Tug Valley Regional Medical Center. Roger was born April 15, 1955, in Williamson, WV, the son of the late Joseph Ephraim "J.E." Bogar and Birdie Mae Runyon Bogar. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Walter Bogar, Nedria Stephenson, and Roy Bogar; his brother-in-laws, Joey Chapman, Larry Hubbard, Pete Varney, Wade Smith, Jim Lockard, and Bert Slater Sr. and also his special friend Darlene Bowling. Roger was a retired coal miner and member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a faithful member of the Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church for 35 years and had served as the Pastor for the last two years. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Anna Mae Bogar of Hardy, KY; his children, Fred (Ashley) Bogar of Canada, KY, and Krystal (Jonathan) Evans of Hardy, KY; siblings, Elsie Ann Slater, Tom Bogar and Darryl (Brenda) Bogar; his loving grandchildren, Arianna May, Joshua Bogar, Ryan Evans and Zoey Evans. He is also survived by his in-laws, Joe Dale (Wanda) Varney, Sue Smith, Ruby Hubbard, Helen Chapman, Mutt (Linda) Varney, Debbie Bogar, Paul Stephenson, Brenda Bogar,, Wanda Lockard and a host of nieces, and nephews, he considered his own, and his many friends and church family. Visitation for Roger will be held Tuesday, January 14, 2025 and Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 6 - 9 PM at the Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church with services both nights at 7 PM. Funeral services will follow Thursday, January 16, 2025, beginning at 1 PM at the church with Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Bluesprings Church Cemetery, Ransom, KY, with his church family and friends serving as pallbearers. R. E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, KY, is serving the Bogar family.
