Roger Phillips Brown, 77, of Merrimack, NH, graduated to Heaven on Saturday February 21, 2026 after a period of declining health. He persevered and kept his hope and trust in Jesus until the end and slipped away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Roger was born in Steubenville, OH on Sept. 16, 1948, and was the son of the late William Moorhead Brown and Jane Carrel (Phillips) Brown. He attended School and High School in Steubenville, where he played football until their family relocated to Merrimack, NH. Roger attended Merrimack High School his Senior Year, where he also met and began dating his future wife, Joyce Johnson. After High School he attended UNH for one year and was then drafted by the United States Army, where he served his country faithfully from 1968 to 1977. After bootcamp he married his high school sweetheart Joyce. He served in the Vietnam War and was also stationed in Hanau, Germany, where their 2 daughters were born and later in Fort Lewis in Washington State and in Fort Monroe in Virginia, where their son was born. He was honorably discharged after serving for 9 1/2 years. His father William was a Lieutenant in the Army and a Liberator bomber pilot during World War II. His older brother "Doug" also served in the US Army and served during the Korean War. His son Sean served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army National Guard and his daughter in law Heather served as an Airman in the US Air Force. In his post military career, he was primarily in sales and management positions. In 1981, when he was 33 years old, the whole course of his life (and his entire family's lives) changed when he had an encounter with Jesus. He attended New Life Bible School and graduated in 1985 with a lifelong passion for sharing Jesus with everyone he met for the rest of his days. If he were writing this story, he would stop right here and tell you that Jesus is THE MOST IMPORTANT PART of his or any story and he would invite you to get to know Him for yourselves personally. He is pre-deceased by his parents William and Jane Brown. He is survived by his wife of 57 1/2 years, Joyce Pauline (Johnson) Brown of Merrimack, NH; his daughter Sonya (Brown) Friar; his daughter Amber (Brown) Ellis and her husband Carl and four granddaughters: Cheyann, Ruth, Aaliyah, and Abbagael Ellis; his son Sean and his wife Heather Brown. He is also survived by his four siblings; William "Doug" and his wife Ki Wha Brown, Alexis and her husband Dennis Robinson and their children and grandchildren, Kristin and her husband Bob Lowman and their son Matt and his children, Craig and his wife Anne Brown and their children and grandchildren. He also had two sister in laws: Donna and her husband Eduardo Campos and their children and grandchildren; and Helen and her husband Lou Christy and their daughter. He also left behind a loving church family and many beloved friends.There are no immediate calling hours. A worship and celebration of life service will be held in late May at International Harvest Christian Church in Goffstown and interment will be at NH Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
