Roger Dale Chaney, Sr.

Roger Dale Chaney, Sr., age 76, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.

Roger was born on July 6, 1949 in Somerset, KY to the late Orpha Chaney.  He was a member of Providence Baptist Church.  Roger loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting.  He was a Heavy Equipment Operator for Ikerd Bandy Coal Company.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Mounce Chaney; two sons, Roger Dale (Krystal) Chaney, Jr. and James Dennis (Donna) Chaney; one daughter, Kathy (Steve) Cook; two brothers, Tommy (Donna) Turner and Dennis Turner; one sister, Peggy (Everett) Hyden; one sister-in-law, Sara Turner; five grandchildren, Megan Cook, Brittany (Joe) Miller, Kody Cook, Lexie Chaney and Katy Chaney; and five great grandchildren, Koleson, Brantley, Ellison, Presley and Banzlee.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Doug Turner.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 11:00am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Ron Meece and Bro. Dalous Sears officiating.  Burial will be at Chaney Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Roger’s nephews.
