Roger Michael Greene, age 93, of Ubly, MI passed away on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026 at Meadow Lane Assisted Living in Bad Axe, MI.
He was born on March 20, 1932 in Detroit, MI. He married Sandra “Sandy” Ross on April 11, 1964 in Royal Oak, MI. They had a son, Brian, on April 6, 1967.
Roger honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 to 1954. Roger and Sandy resided in Clarkston, MI where he spent the majority of his career working at the Detroit News where he retired from. After retirement, Roger and Sandy moved to Ubly, MI in 1997. Roger was a member of Ubly Heights Golf & Country Club for many years. He had a passion for playing and watching golf- specifically following Rory McIlroy in his career. He recorded his first career hole in one, on hole No. 11 using a 7 iron from 163 yards at Ubly Heights Golf & Country Club. He also truly loved going to the casino with his friends, painting, reading, and bird watching.
Roger had two very special friends, John Guigar of Bad Axe and Dave Hutchison of Caro. Both were of great help and support over the years and he cherished their friendship as well as many others. Roger was blessed to have so many friends.
Roger is survived by his daughter-in-law, Lana Greene, nephew Larry(Virginia) Jean, brother-in-law Dan(Cheryl) Ross, niece Rachelle(Tom) Neddo, niece Renee Ross, and great nephews Zachary and Trenton Neddo.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sandy Greene; son Brian Greene; sister Renee(George) Jean; parents Roger Greene; mother Grace Farmer; father and mother-in-law John “Jack” and Ethel Ross.
Service will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 11:00 am at MacAlpine Funeral Home- Mac Chapel, in Bad Axe, with Pastor Michael Goforth officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 10:00 until service time at 11:00 am at the Mac Chapel. Burial will be at Valley Cemetery in Ubly, MI at a later date.
