Roger Hugh Pace, 72, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Hospice House in Roanoke, Virginia. He was born on May 21, 1953, to the late Burton Pace and Gertrude “Gertie” Ross Pace.
Roger graduated from G.W. Carver High School Class of 1971. He later worked for many years as a Tow Motor Driver at Bassett Walker and PlyGem, where he retired from both. He was well known for his love of mowing grass, and in his earlier years, he enjoyed playing softball and coaching flag football within the community.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda Gilbert Pace; daughters, Lovetta Pace-Dempsey and Joyce Pace; son, Jamie Callaway; five grandchildren, Cotoria Jenkins (Alsenio), Jamarius Tinsley, Jamesha Pace, Taynia Dempsey, and Laila Callaway; one great-grandchild, Ayden Jenkins; sisters, Gladys Wade (Willie) and Jerona Legans (William); along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
The family will receive friends during a floating visitation on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel at 11:30 a.m., with Reverend Taylor Tolliver officiating. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens.
