Not sure what to say?

I wanted to say a couple of things about my big brother.
We would occasionally get to spend time together—usually over lunch—just talking. At the last lunch we had together, Roger asked me, “Was I a good brother growing up?” The question took me by surprise. But as I quickly reflected back to when I was five or six years old, I remembered the times he spent teaching me to play baseball, football, and so many other things. My answer was simple: “You were a great brother.”
After that...

Vickie, Danny and I are going to miss Roger. He was a good friend and a wonderful person.

Roger's Obituary

Roger Wayne Tucker, age 70, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on October 18, 2025. at his home surrounded by family.

Roger was born December 23, 1954, to Andy and Oshia Faye (Harvey) Tucker. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Early in his childhood his family moved from Collinsville, Oklahoma to Sperry, Oklahoma where he graduated from Sperry High School. Roger continued his education at Oklahoma Baptist University in Oklahoma City as he was called to teach the Gospel.

During his childhood he was very active in baseball and football. He started playing football as a Freshman with the Senior team. His Senior year of football all ended one game when his knee was hit from the front and from behind at the same time. It changed his direction in life. He was also actively involved with the FFA. He went to state several times presenting his speeches. With the FFA he raised hogs and chickens. Two sweet stories come to come to mind are:

The first story is...one day it was time to lead his hog for a show, his parents were getting ready to leave home but instructed him to first load the hog before picking up his girlfriend. He waited until they left then went to get his girlfriend. They came back to load the hog, they chased and chased the hog finally catching her, mud everywhere. He decided to wash her, but the quickest way was to take her through the car wash, not thinking how hot her body temp was from the chase. So, he pulled into the car wash and began spraying her, she died there of a heart attack.

The 2nd story is...he was to raise 50 chicks to hens and once hens, he was to kill them and butcher them to bring his 5 prime hens cut up into frying pieces for judging. That week before judging was to take place a dog got into the pen and killed all of them. Desperate, he decided to go to the grocery store and pick up 5 prime hens and cut them up.

Roger's career started with Wheatley, out of West Tulsa. He worked for them for 13 years learning many aspects of the company and became their shipping and receiving supervisor. He later went to work for Wood Group Esp of Oklahoma City while doing his Ministry of the Gospel until 2011, when he retired due to his sprots injury. On occasion, he was asked to preach and perform weddings and funerals.

In 1980, while he was working at Wheatly, he met and married Vickie Yocham Tucker. Roger and Vickie were married 44 years. Even though they didn't have children together, Roger had 1 son, Smokey and Vickie had 2 daughters, Sheila and TJ. All 3 had blonde hair and blue eyes. You wouldn't have known they were not blood.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, stepdaughter Sheila and his son Smokey.

He is survived by his wife Vickie and stepdaughter TJ Jones; grandchildren Kendra Richardson, Megan Walker, Shelby Jones, Kerrigan Henson, Bryce Henson and Sage Jones; great-grandchildren Zuany, Odessa, Kaidynce, Kayleigh, Kiarrah, Major, Ryder and Lilly Ann; sister Sherry Ridge; brother and sister-in-law Scott and Susan Tucker and a host of other relatives and friends.

Roger had a caring and compassionate heart and loved surprising church families and sometimes strangers by paying for their meals after church. He loved life and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. He cherished his long friendship with his schoolmate Randy McKerloy.
