Ronald Housler, 72, of Route 6 Kane passed away Thursday, October 9 in UPMC Hamot. Born May 14, 1953 in Kane, he is the son of the late Charles "Hammie" and Ione (Olson) Housler. On July 26, 1986, at Lebanon Lutheran Church, Kanesholm, he married Anita Fay Conley who survives.Ron graduated from Smethport Area High School and from Pennsylvania State University with a BS degree in Animal Industry. He worked as Director of Maintenance at the Kane Community Hospital and later at The Lutheran Home at Kane. Ron was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, John Berg Post 976 in Crosby. He always looked forward to attending the Crosby Cow and Coyote Hunt fundraiser every year. Ron enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, gardening, and watching the Pirates, Steelers, Bills, and Penn State games. He was known for growing delicious sweet corn. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, James Conley (Julia Levis) of Pittsburgh and a daughter Nora (Dean) Catania of Pittsburgh; a brother Charles "Ed" Housler; a sister, Vicki Kelley, and many nieces and nephews.He was proceeded in death by his parents, grandparents, two brothers-in-law, Howard Kelley and Thomas Fay, and a sister-in-law, Berna Jeanne Fay Schuler.No public services will be held. The Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.Memorial donations may be made to Penn State Cooperative Extension 4-H Program Endowment in McKean County, or Fishin Kids Club (c/o John Walker, P.O.Box 97 Hazelhurst, PA 16733).Online condolences can be expressed at www.cummingsfh.com.
