Ronald Coleman Jones, age 74, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on Thursday morning, July 17, 2025. He was born on April 29, 1951, to the late Lewis and Faustine Jones. In August 1983, Mr. Jones welcomed his greatest gift, his daughter, LaToya.
Mr. Jones attended Roanoke City Schools and had a passion for automotive work, earning a certificate in Auto Mechanics. He held positions as a mechanic and auto painter with Dickersons Peterbilt, Euro Specialties, and Wooding Auto Center. Later in his career, he joined Landford Brothers Co., where he engaged in street and bridge work until his retirement.
An enthusiast of football, Mr. Jones was a devoted New York Giants fan. He also had a fondness for motorcycles and was a member of the Jaquar Motorcycle Club, participating actively in club events. Family gatherings were especially meaningful to him, and he was known for his sense of humor and presence at cookouts, holiday dinners, and birthday celebrations.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Faustine Jones, and his sisters Jackie Lyons and Sharon Paschall.
He is survived by his daughter, LaToya Jones Smiling; grandchildren, Nahla and Wade; sister, Darlene Bannister; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cancer Society orBlue Ridge Cancer Center.
A Memorial service will be held Friday, July 25, 2025, 11:30AM at Serenity Chapel (126 Gilmer Ave location). Arrangements by Serenity Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
